Sons of Belarusian Oligarch Yuri Chizh Renounced Lithuanian Citizenship
The two sons of Yuri Chizh, a Belarusian businessman with close ties to Alexander Lukashenko, relinquished their Lithuanian citizenship in September 2023, according to a joint investigation by Lithuanian and Belarusian journalists. Uladzimir and Sjarhej Čiži had been granted Lithuanian citizenship 12 years prior, while their father was already subject to European Union sanctions.
Citizenship Through Ancestry

Lithuanian law allows individuals with ancestors who were citizens of Lithuania before the war to claim citizenship, even while retaining their existing nationality.

The Lithuanian Department of State Security conducted standard checks on Uladzimir and Sjarhej Čiži during the citizenship application process but identified no security risks. Though, their citizenship was revoked in September 2023 by order of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vladislav Kondratovič.
