UAE Expands Visa Waiver Program for Indian Nationals

Indian travelers rejoice! The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made it even easier to visit, expanding its visa waiver program for Indian passport holders and their families. These new regulations, effective February 13, 2024, offer simplified entry for Indian citizens holding valid visas, residency permits, or green cards from a wider array of countries.

What’s Changed?

Previously, visa waivers were available to those with valid travel documents from the United States, the United Kingdom, and European Union (EU) nations. Now, the UAE government has added six more countries to the list:

  • Singapore
  • Japan
  • South Korea
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Canada

This expansion, announced by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), aims to streamline the travel process and enhance tourism for Indian nationals.

Visa-on-Arrival: A Smooth Entry Process

Indian nationals meeting the eligibility criteria can now obtain a visa-on-arrival at all designated entry points in the UAE. Here are the key requirements:

  • Passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival
  • Payment of applicable visa fees as per UAE regulations

Visa Fees and Validity

The ICP has outlined the costs and durations for various visas offered under this program:

  • 14-Day Entry Visa: Dh100 (for eligible Indian nationals and their family members)
  • 14-Day Extension: Dh250 (for those wishing to extend their stay)
  • 60-Day Visa: Dh250 (for longer stays)

These accessible fees make short-term and extended visits affordable for Indian travelers pursuing tourism, business, or family visits.

Strengthening Ties: UAE and India

This expansion of the visa waiver program underlines the strong historical, cultural, and economic links between the UAE and India. By simplifying travel procedures, the initiative creates more opportunities for Indian nationals to explore the UAE for work, leisure, or long-term residency.

The UAE’s vision to become a global hub for tourism, trade, and investment is further bolstered by this move. With a robust economy and thriving business environment, the UAE aims to attract talent and entrepreneurs from India, strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.
