Omaha Teens Sentenced in Uber Driver’s Death

Omaha, Neb. – The final suspect in the August 2024 shooting death of Uber driver Mursal Jama, 64, was sentenced to prison on Monday, March 16, 2026. Joseph Keyes, 15, received a sentence of 35-70 years for two counts of robbery and two counts of leverage of a deadly weapon after pleading no contest to the charges.

Sentencing Details

Keyes’ sentencing concludes the legal proceedings for the six individuals charged in connection with Jama’s death. Previously, Trenton Titsworth-Hunt, Talan Wilson, and Deasean Titsworth-Hunt each received sentences of 50-70 years for the same charges [WOWT].

A 13-year-old juvenile involved in the case was placed on comprehensive supervision probation. Charges were dropped against another juvenile, age 11 at the time of the shooting, after being found incompetent to stand trial [WOWT].

The Crime and Investigation

Mursal Jama was fatally shot on August 13, 2024 [WOWT]. Omaha Police initially identified four teenage suspects and were searching for two additional individuals [WOWT].

Previous Sentencings

Trenton Titsworth-Hunt was sentenced to 50-70 years in prison on Tuesday, with his sentencing occurring before Keyes’ [KETV]. Talan Wilson also received a sentence of up to 70 years [KETV]. Desean Titsworth-Hunt was also sentenced to 50-70 years in prison [KETV].

Titsworth-Hunt was the first of four teenagers to be sentenced in the case [News Press Now].
