US firefighters Arrested While Preparing to Fight Wildfires

Washington DC – Two firefighters from teh United States were arrested by border patrol agents for what officials say are immigration issues. This happened while the firefighters were getting ready to fight forest fires in Washington state.

US immigration officials reported, according to AFP on Friday, August 29, 2025, that federal agents detained several people from a private fire contractor on Wednesday, August 27th. They were preparing to help with the Bear Gulch Fire in Washington at the time.

The bear Gulch Fire has burned about 3,600 hectares (8,900 acres) in Washington state.
