In shape and size, horses and zebra are similar animals. One thing that clearly distinguishes it is the typical black and white color on zebra. However, why is the horse ridden and zebra?
In the history of human civilization, physical contact with wild animals runs dynamically. Initially only about predators and prey, became a pet relationship.
At least 10,000-15,000 years ago, there was a process of domestication of animals that is the taming of wild animals into animals that can side by side with humans. This process is carried out by ancient humans so that animals can slowly adapt physically and behavior, so that they can side by side with humans.

Some animals that experience a long history of domestication include dogs, cats, cows, goats, to horses. So what about Zebra?
Unlike horses, Zebra is one of the species that can be said to fail. Therefore, its wild nature becomes difficult to be close to humans.
Zebra is very aggressive and has a dangerous reflex
The reason Zebra is not a ride like a horse because of its aggressive nature. Quoting ABC Science, Zebra is not only aggressive but also has a wild reflex.
Naturally, zebra from generation to generation considers humans as predators. While animals that experience domestication, can be side by side with humans because they have seen maintenance treatment.
Because of the aggressive Zebra, they can easily kick and bite that is considered threatening. In the wild, how to survive zebra is done to avoid the threat of predators such as lions, cheetahs, to hyena.
In short, although in its history Zebra once tried to be tamed around the 18th and 19th centuries, but his wild nature never disappeared. If nurtured by humans, they become fussy and kick each other, which then causes death.
This is what ultimately keeps zebra wild. While different things happen to horses, which can adapt in the taming process.
The characteristics of animals that can be domesticated
In the history of animal domestication, humans tend to like animal criteria which:
– Has a calm temperament
– Not too aggressive
– Producing offspring in captivity
In the three criteria above, Zebra will be difficult to enter the list of domestication. Moreover, they can suddenly become evil and cruel, even hurt others. Zebra also has a nomadic way of life, so they hate locked up.
Aggressive nature and strong body structure, ultimately making zebra difficult to approach. This is why zebra is also not used as a ride like a horse.
