Forza Horizon 6 Races onto PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 in 2026
The highly anticipated Forza Horizon 6 is set to launch in 2026, bringing the open-world racing experience to a wider audience than ever before. Developed by Playground Games and published by Xbox Game Studios, the game will initially release on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will later be available on PlayStation 5. This marks the first time a Forza Horizon title will be available on PlayStation.
Setting and Gameplay
Forza Horizon 6 is set in a fictionalized representation of Japan, featuring a stylized version of Tokyo as its main city. Wikipedia reports that the Tokyo area is the “most complex and intricate drivable space” in the franchise, being five times larger than any previous Horizon city. The game boasts over 550 cars, all of which will be extensively customizable.
Players will begin as tourists and progress through the Horizon Festival ranks, earning wristbands by completing races and events to unlock faster cars, mirroring the progression system from the original Forza Horizon. Reaching the gold wristband level grants access to Legend Island, offering unique challenges and exclusive races. The game will similarly feature a dynamic weather system with seasonal changes, similar to Forza Horizon 4 and 5.
Cross-Platform Play and Save
A significant new feature for the Forza Horizon series is the inclusion of cross-save and cross-play functionality. PlayStation Universe confirms that players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S will be able to play together and carry their progress across platforms.
Release Dates and Availability
Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled for release on May 19, 2026, for Windows and Xbox Series X/S. The PlayStation 5 version will follow later in 2026. The game will be included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass at launch, as stated on the Playground Games website.
