The explosion occurred on Friday (12/9/2025). Shortly after the explosion, residents felt a blackout and houses were destroyed.
Some suspect the explosion was a falling meteor. Though, the results of the police inquiry at the location suggest the explosion came from gas. Hear are the facts:
1. Explosion Destroys 8 Houses
The terrible explosion that occurred in the pamulang area, South Tangerang destroyed eight housing units. House buildings were in ruins, with walls destroyed.
“There were reports of several houses damaged, allegedly, public details indicated an explosion before the incident,” said South Tangerang Police Chief AKBP Victor Inkiriwang when contacted on friday (12/9/2025).
The explosion occurred at around 05.30 WIB. The explosion resulted in a number of houses being damaged.
“The house was quite seriously damaged – 4 houses – and there were 4 houses that were slightly damaged,” he added.
2. Seven People Were Injured
Not only causing material losses, the explosion also caused injuries. In total, there were seven people injured by the explosion, and some of them were treated in hospitals.
“In total 7 victims. Three people were treated intensively, the rest were outpatient,” Victor said.

The Head of Public Relations of the South Tangerang Police, AKP Agil Prayogo, said the explosion was caused by a gas leak from a gas pipe belonging to one of the residents.

Mahmud thought it was a meteor because his house was first damaged at the top. The sound he heard was also from the direction of the roof, not from the floor.
