Israel Now Possesses Laser Weapon to Shoot Down Missiles
Tel Aviv – the Ministry of Defense of Israel announced that development of a high-strength laser weapon has been completed. The laser weapons are expected to begin operation by the end of this year to strengthen the air defense system, providing a multi-layered defense protecting the country from attack.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense stated,as reported by Bloomberg and Al Arabiya on September 19,2025,that the laser weapon,named Iron beam, was developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Elbit Systems Ltd.,and has a power of 100 kilowatts.
The laser weapon has undergone trials in southern Israel, with the Ministry of Defense claiming Iron Beam successfully intercepted drones, rockets, mortars, and aircraft during testing.
