Japanese Town Considers Ordinance to Limit daily Smartphone Use

A small town in Japan,Toyoake,Aichi Prefecture,is considering a groundbreaking ordinance to restrict residents’ daily smartphone,tablet,and PC usage to a maximum of two hours.This move, announced by Mayor Fumi toyoke, stems from growing concerns about the negative impacts of excessive screen time on physical and mental health, particularly sleep disorders and developmental issues in children. The proposed ordinance,currently under deliberation by the city council,could be implemented as early as October.

Concerns Over Rising screen Time in Japan

The initiative comes as studies reveal alarming trends in digital device usage among Japanese youth.
