China Calls Taiwan President Warmonger – Latest News

Government China furious at the statement President of Taiwan, Lai Ching-te and called him a “warmonger.” This was conveyed on Thursday (12/2) after the Taiwanese leader warned that Beijing would target countries in the Indo-Pacific region, if it succeeded in controlling Taiwan.

Lai told AFP in his first interview with a global news agency since taking office in May 2024, that if China took over Taiwan, Beijing would become “more aggressive”. Next, China will direct its “expansionist ambitions” towards Japan, the Philippines and other countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

China’s Foreign Ministry accused Lai of provoking aggression, calling him a “warmonger.”

“Lai Ching-te’s remarks once again reveal his stubborn pro-independence nature, fully proving that he is a destroyer of peace, a crisis creator and a warmonger,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press conference, reported by the news agency. AFPThursday (12/2/2026).

“Whatever Lai Ching-te says or does, it cannot change the historical and legal facts that Taiwan is part of China’s territory,” he said.

It is known that China claims Taiwan as part of its territory, and has threatened to use force to bring the self-governing island under its control.

In an interview with AFP, Lai said that China seized TaiwanBeijing will become “more aggressive, undermining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and the rules-based international order.”

“If Taiwan is annexed by China, China’s expansionist ambitions will not stop there,” Lai said.

“The next countries threatened are Japan, the Philippines and other countries in the Indo-Pacific region, with impacts that will eventually reach America and Europe,” he said.

The Indo-Pacific region includes East Asia (South Korea, North Korea, Japan), South Asia, Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia to Australia, New Zealand and Pacific island countries.
