WACO, Texas – The time for speculation is over as Auburn football kicks off its 2025 season on Friday evening, heading west for a rare season-opening road trip against Baylor. (7 p.m. CT, FOX)
It’s the first time in five years Auburn is starting the season against a Power Four foe,and the first time since 2002 it’s beginning a campaign with a true road contest. While the matchup promises intrigue, it’s also imperative for the success of Auburn’s season.
After failing to progress in Year 2 under Hugh Freeze,the program enters this fall with its head coach facing a hot seat. Its SEC schedule is relatively favorable, featuring rivalry games against Alabama and Georgia at Jordan-hare Stadium, but defeating the Bears in Waco would give Auburn something it hasn’t had under Freeze as 2023 – a true road win against a Power Four opponent.
