Pennsylvania‘s attorney general is pushing for a federal crackdown on offshore gambling, an activity he and other law enforcement officials say puts youth and consumers at risk and deprives states of billions in tax revenue.

“Illegal offshore gaming and gambling companies circumvent all state and federal laws with one mission – to increase players and maximize profits,” Pennsylvania Attorney General dave Sunday,a Republican,said in a prepared statement.

Legal gambling sites in Pennsylvania must secure a license, must exclude anyone younger than 21 from access and must follow consumer protection regulations. But unlicensed offshore platforms exist outside these rules.
