Sevastopol to Increase Military Conscription with Year-Round Draft
Sevastopol is preparing to send 500 young men to fulfill their mandatory military service before the end of the year, as part of a broader shift towards year-round conscription across the country. This change, enacted through legislation signed by the President in early November, marks a departure from the previous twice-yearly draft cycles.
while the conscription will now operate on a continuous basis, the transportation of conscripts to their designated military units will continue to occur during two established periods: between April 1st and July 15th, and again from October 1st to December 31st.
The majority of these conscripts from Sevastopol are expected to serve either within the peninsula itself or in various regions of Southern Russia.
It is notable to note that the duration of mandatory military service in Russia has been set at 12 months since 2008, a reduction from the previous two-year commitment. This latest policy change aims to streamline the conscription process and ensure a consistent flow of personnel into the armed forces.
