President of the United States (US) Donald Trump back to blame the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky related to Russia’s massive attack on Ukraine. Trump said the leader of Ukraine shared a mistake with Russian President Vladimir Putin for the fall of millions of lives in the conflict.
“You did not start a war against someone who was 20 times bigger than you and then hoped that people gave you some missiles,” he said in the White House on Monday (4/14/2025) BBC.
Trump’s comments followed the Russian attack in Sumy last Sunday, which was considered the deadliest attack on civilians this year. Moscow also attacked the suburbs on Monday night.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte is known to go to Ukraine on Tuesday to show solidarity with Kyiv after the missile attack. Joining Zelensky in Odesa, Rutte condemned the terrible pattern of attacks on civilians and considered Russia to be an aggressor who began the war.
Trump on Monday first described Sumy’s attack as “terrible” but said he had told Russia that “made a mistake”. He did not give further details.
Meanwhile, Ukraine media reported that there had been a medal giving ceremony for military veterans in the city on the day of attack. Zelensky fired Sumy’s regional head on Tuesday, for allegedly hosting the event, local media reported.
Trump on Monday also blamed his predecessor Joe Biden for the victims of the war, which was estimated to reach hundreds of thousands, not millions as he claimed.
“Millions of people died because of three people,” Trump said.
“Call it Putin number one, just call it Biden who doesn’t know what he is doing, number two, and Zelensky.”
It is known that the Trump government has tried to be the mediator of a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine and has been negotiating with Moscow, who has gotten rid of Kyiv.

In the wake of a recent large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine, former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again publicly criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reigniting a controversy surrounding U.S.-Ukraine relations and the ongoing conflict. Trump’s remarks, which often center on past interactions and perceived failings of the Zelensky management, have drawn condemnation from many political figures and international observers, who view them as unhelpful and potentially damaging to Ukraine’s efforts to defend itself against russian aggression.
